OUR HOSANNA STAFF

Preschool – Mrs. Betsy Smith	Mrs. Smith will begin her third year teaching at Hosanna Christian School . She has always enjoyed working with children at school and her church, Peninsula Christian Fellowship. She lives in Tacoma with her husband, Peter , and their dog, Emi. For fun she likes to spend time with family and friends, read, bake, and be involved in church activities.
Kindergarten – Mrs. Pam Thomsen	Mrs. Thomsen has been preparing children for 1^st Grade at Hosanna since 1999 as their Kindergarten teacher. She looks forward each year to meeting and nurturing the little ones God sends into her classroom. Pam and her husband, Bob , have three children. Their son, Adam , graduated from Hosanna. “Thank you for entrusting your children to me.”
1^st & 2^nd Grades – Mrs. Peggy Hobbs	When Mrs. Hobbs accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at 22 years old, God opened her heart to start a family and to teach in Sunday school. She and her husband, Gary , have four wonderful daughters. Jaime and Jessie attended Hosanna in the late 80’s, and Peggy was so grateful that the school was still available to them when Hayley and Bryanna were able to be here in the 90’s. (They are so proud of each one of them.) Mrs. Hobbs has a beautiful granddaughter, Callie , who is the ‘apple of her eye.’ Teaching at HCS for 15 fun-filled years, she has loved teaching her own children and yours, too! “Having children around makes us better people. This is a calling. Thank you, Lord.”
3^rd & 4^th Grades – Mrs. Zurinsky	Since 1974, while serving as a summer school teacher in inner-city Seattle , Mrs. ‘Z’ has known she is called to ministry with children. Laurie has had the wonderful privilege of teaching and tutoring in three Christian schools - 3rd & 4^th, 5^th & 6^th, and 7^th & 8th Grades – as well as multi-sensory tutoring. She has been affiliated with Hosanna Christian School since 1990 when she and her husband, Rich , moved their family to the Gig Harbor area. Their three children, Bob , Annie , and John all attended Hosanna. Bob came back to teach here, and Annie worked in the office. John has worked summer jobs with some of the teachers, and Rich taught here for two years. No doubt their new grandson, Grant , will work here some day. “Just like family!” Serving as drama coach, secretary/bookkeeper, and teacher at HCS has been “the best!” In the classroom, and with her newly added duties as Principal, each day is “counted as a blessing.”
5^th & 6^th Grades – Mrs. Anna Lindsay	Mrs. Lindsay will join our staff this year as the 5^th & 6^th Grade teacher. A graduate of the College of Southern Idaho and Idaho State University , Anna comes with a dedication to encourage students to grow spiritually while achieving their academic goals. Having previously taught in Christian school in Buhl, Idaho , she has developed the ability to reach students in a very special way and to have a positive impact on their lives. Anna married Tim Lindsay this year, which brought her to the Northwest and Hosanna Christian School .
7^th & 8^th Grades – Mrs. Tamara Burt	Mrs. Burt came to HCS in 2006 via Germany and the Mojave Desert ! She and her husband, Andrew , have moved their family many times, following Dad’s military career. Along the way, she has earned her AA in Social Psychology as well as an AA in Math and Science. She continues her studies, and will complete her BA soon. Teaching is where her heart is, and she knows that God has led her in such a way as to challenge her to grow in the shadow of God’s hand at every turn. Their son, Jarid, graduated from Hosanna, daughter Jocelynn still attends here, Their daughter, Jessica , was employed as an aide during her after-school hours.
7^th & 8^th Grades – Mrs. Jennifer Stelle	Mrs. Stelle joined the Hosanna team as a seasoned veteran in Christian Schools . A graduate from Sacramento State University , she began her career in 1990 at Morning Star Christian School in Carmichael , CA , then on to Temple Christian School in Ventura , CA . When her husband, Pastor Mike, was called to Harbor Covenant Church in Gig Harbor , Jennifer joined us at HCS. Both of their daughters, Kayla and Madison , attended Hosanna Christian School . Mrs. Stelle ’s love for the students is apparent on and off our campus, as she spends her ‘spare’ time as a volunteer in community youth sports programs and at church.
School Secretary – Mrs. Cathy Herstad	Mrs. Herstad has been involved at Hosanna Christian School since 2001 when her son, Andy , began attending 6^th grade. The following year, Cathy joined the HCS team as an aide with a variety of duties: classroom assistant, playground supervisor, in-class tutor, and after-school mentor. She has served on the School Board as well. This dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother continues her service to the school as our new secretary.
